Imagine a place that is a beautiful example of the simplicity of ecological design, a place that encompasses the passion of green living and through its existence will inspire others to make the changes we need to conserve our only home.
Imagine a place that will bring economic benefit to the local community because in the simplest terms people will want to see it, learn from it, experience it.
Imagine a place that will give people – locally and from far and wide – insight into the rich society and culture of the many forms of Buddhism – one of the fastest growing religions in NSW.
Imagine a place where the community can gather to enrich and improve their lives through workshops and classes based in psychology, meditation and relaxation.
That place is the Eco Compassion Church.
The Eco Compassion Church (ECC) is a planned ecumenical Buddhist church to be situated in Central West New South Wales in Australia.
The Church will be built from strawbales and contain green and sustainable technologies as an example of affordable ecological architecture and design.
Once completed the church will be host to Buddhist-based social welfare programs and be a centre for Buddhist study in its many forms. We will also run eco-tours and information seminars related to eco building and environmental sustainability.
The Eco Compassion Church is an example of compassionate activity in the world. By being environmentally conscious and through offering engaged Buddhist programs but mostly by simply existing and being an example, we aim to improve the world around us for many years to come.
We are affiliated with Tharpa Choeling Abbey, Blue Padma Services, Singmo Institute and Buddhist Youth Initiative for Interconnectedness.
